Aug 18: Comfort from an Old Friend

When I was little, I used to play a Granny and Papa’s house a lot. Many of my most vivid memories of childhood involve that house on Lee St. Granny and Papa didn’t have air conditioning in most of the house. As far as I can recollect, only their TV room had a window unit AC. They did have a window fan in their kitchen, and man could it circulate some air. Pam and I used to stand outside and let it blow our hair straight back. We’d talk into it because it sounded funny. I swear, it seems like yesterday! I managed to get my hands on the window fan when the house was being cleaned out. I used it in New Hampshire and Texas. Now, it cools us in Michigan when we don’t need AC. It can be a little noisy, but it has to be older than me. I love that fan and all the comfort it brings.
